Introduction to international management consulting (5 days)
This module introduces the particular features of the international consultancy markets and the specific characteristics of the market stakeholders. It enables the students to recognise the relevance which different environments (macro-economic, socio-cultural, political, legal and natural) have to the consulting process. The module is part of the programme of the Summer School in China. The integration of living case studies “in situ” help to develop a feeling for the specifics of international project organisation in consulting. At the same time the entire module is designed to ensure that the students achieve a consistent basic knowledge of management science in its international and intercultural focus.

Consulting process (10 days)
The objective of this module is to demonstrate best current practice procedures in order to design the core process of management consulting, from establishing the initial contact to the potential client up to the completion of a project. The following subjects are dealt with: acquiring consultancy projects, execution and management of consulting projects, fundamental techniques of as-is analysis, drawing up a nominal concept, implementation, conclusion of project and follow-up client care. This module also covers quality assurance, strategic project management and meta-consulting.

Management of consulting companies (4 days)
The management of consulting companies is distinguished by particular characteristics as a result of the specific kind of service provided. These characteristics become even more marked when companies aim for internationalisation. The module will primarily provide the general knowledge about the management of consulting companies, followed by the specific features to manage a consultancy under strategic, organisational, economical, social and operational aspects.
